Ok, now that you've mastered the basics of prim manipulation. You did complete your training at The Ivory Tower Library right? Good.
So, yeah, anyway ... you're probably going to need a place to build. At first a small sandbox might do the trick for you, but some days it might be a little too crowded or maybe you want to build something bigger. Maybe you just want some privacy for a secret project.
Well, if you have land it's common practice to put a builder's platform in the sky above it so you can build what you want and/or need (or to build stuff to sell below). If you DON'T have land ... well, you're going to need access to a group sandbox.
I couldn't tell you how many hours I've spent at Skidz Isle. By joining the mentor group you'll not only be able to build just about anything you could want here ... you'll also be able to ask the group and get help if you get stuck or can't figure out what you need to do. Plus there are parts and scripting stores here where you can get what you might need to do whatever it is you're trying to do.
The private builder boxes are a nice touch. Just select an empty platform and teleport up to it.
From a distance they don't look like much ... just big, black boxes that hang in the sky very much the way bricks don't.
But inside...
...you will find plenty of room to build. Of course you can't build houses, castles, etc. inside. You need wide open space for that. For those builds just head down into the sandbox and have fun (obey the rules and you'll probably not hear anyone complaining). But for furniture, clothes, cars (building not testing), motorcycles ... you could do much of that stuff right here in a private room.
Who knows what madness will take over once you begin to understand prim manipulation.
Well, from here you're on your own to twist and torture prims into becoming what you want them to be. The devil is in the detail. Be picky. "That's close enough" ... isn't. Abuse yourself for mistakes. Reward yourself when you know you've kicked some ass.
It's your world now. Go build it.
I'll be back again. Someday.

Second Life Building Basics & Beyond (Part 1)
So, you wanna be a Second Life builder. Your new God-like powers have inspired you to be more than just a simple, social animal and the club circuit isn't exactly your cup of tea.
Trust me. I know exactly where you're coming from. The social side of SL is full of exactly what you have to deal with out there in the really-real world - people! ...and they suck. I had to get away from all that and find that peaceful bliss and Zen of Second Life building. See the hardhat? I didn't just earn it. I built it. ...along with a lot of crazy shit very few people have even seen.
It's not that difficult. It just takes time, practice and some attention to detail.
The first thing I think you should do is visit The Ivory Tower Library of Primitives.
Sure, it's ok to tour around through all the lesson displays on all the floors first but it's probably going to confuse you. There's a lot of good information here. Don't stress out about it. Each lesson is setup at it's own station and you work through the numbered stations at your own pace.
After you work your way through the stations on the first floor, move up to the next floor and do it again.
Once you reach the top...
...you can look down upon those who don't know what the hell they're doing.
No, seriously, there's a sandbox down there. ...and it's usually full of people trying to do what they've learned here in The Ivory Tower. They'll figure it out ... maybe.
YOU will, right? Of course you will.
See you soon for Part 2.

Whoa! What happened here?
So I'm hangin' out in my own cozy little corner of Hell when for some stupid reason I decided to come up and look around a bit.
It seems my home position is unchanged and I popped in back to the same ol' place that I used to. But, when I looked around I had no idea where I was. Can you believe this shot is from Rot's old sim?
I can't. It's all ... pretty and stuff. Yuck.
Looks like they're renting plots for homes and maybe light commercial. Not sure but here's the slurl if you want to see it. I've gotta get outta here. Fast. Feeling a bit queazy.
With a link from an old friend I ended up on top of a small castle on a distant sim.
...face to face with The Forgotten King.
His friends call him Zman, known as ruler of Forgotten Souls clan of Bloodlines. He, of course, extended an invitation to join his clan but ... I'm from Hell. I do what I want and usually prefer to do so alone.
His clan's reputation is of wild, rooftop and ballroom castle parties, group hunting and whatever comes up. Zman says this is more of a social group, and while Bloodlines is a part of it ... it's more about the members, fun and friends.
Yep, sounds like a social group. I'm afraid I'm far too antisocial for that. Though I might have to drop in from time to time because Zman is a cool dude. Well, you know ... for an undead human. If you want to meet him, hang out and party with his "clan" (friends) ... click this slurl link and it'll put you right there on the roof of the castle.
I think that's enough touring for today. I'm going back to Hell.
See you there!

So ... how the hell are ya? (again)
Ok, so I lied. I've barely been around at all.
I took a LONG break. When I logged in again it
didn't take long to just wanna get the hell outta
there. Know what I mean?
I played too much. ...too much too much.
It's been a while. I might have to take another
tour and snap a few pictures.
But where oh where should I go?
Post Your SLURL as a comment.
Maybe I'll drop in. Maybe I won't.
